Alai first joined the Penn & Teller organization as press manager and was then promoted to the role of executive director/personal manager. In that role, Alai handles all managerial, marketing and press decisions for Penn & Teller’s Las Vegas and touring shows, as well as their television, film, literary and personal appearances careers.
He serves as co-executive producer on The CW’s “Penn & Teller: Fool Us!” and was co-executive producer on the Emmy-nominated hit Showtime series, “Penn & Teller: Bullshit!” Alai also was a producer on the critically lauded documentary “The Aristocrats”, which stars, among others, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman and Robin Williams; and the 2014 BAFTA nominated and Oscar-shortlisted hit documentary “Tim’s Vermeer.” In 2018 he produced the Showtime magic documentary, “The Gambler’s Ballad.”
Alai served as talent producer for the nationally broadcasted CBS radio program, “The Penn Jillette Show,” booking such guests as Lewis Black, Howie Mandel, Lisa Lampanelli and Drew Carey. He produces the “Penn’s Sunday School” podcast,” which was named top comedy podcast on iTunes in its debut year.
In 2015, Alai brought the pair back to Broadway in their first engagement there in nearly 25 years, serving as associate producer for the show. “Penn & Teller On Broadway” was the highest-grossing non-musical on Broadway for the duration of its run. He was executive producer of the hit play, “Magic Goes Wrong,” that played to raves and broke box office records on London’s West End from 2019 to 2021. In 2025 he produced the duo’s 50th anniversary tour with sold runs at the Sydney Opera House, Radio City Music Hall and The London Palladium.
Alai has co-produced the Las Vegas residency of magician Michael Carbonaro and co-produces the national tours of Penn & Teller Present The Foolers. An avid admirer of classic Las Vegas entertainment, he has produced sold out concerts starring Lainie Kazan, Connie Stevens, John Davidson, Florence Henderson, Leslie Jordan, Priscilla Presley (sold out UK tour), Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr. and Carol Lawrence. He also conceived and produces the annual Aid for AIDS Nevada (AFAN) event “An Evening of Cabaret Benefitting AFAN.”
Alai was awarded an ADDY in 2017 and again in 2024, along with Caesars Entertainment, for outstanding integrated brand identity campaign for the Penn & Teller Las Vegas ad campaign. He served as president of the AFAN Board of Directors for four years and is currently a board member of the Nevada School of the Arts.
Glenn Alai is a Broadway, film, and television producer who has guided the careers of Penn Jillette and Teller since 1994. His other client, Piff the Magic Dragon, has had a 10-year long residency at Flamingo Las Vegas and is a popular draw on tour, and is noted for his viral tv appearances on such shows as “America’s Got Talent” and “Penn & Teller: Fool Us!”
A graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Alai began his career in 1991 in the entertainment and public relations office at Caesars Tahoe, eventually moving into a similar position at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
