Personal Managers Hall Of Fame
Celebrating Illustrious Careers in Entertainment, Music, and Talent Management.
Burt Stein has over fifty-three years experience in all facets of the music industry. Just out of college, he began his career in April of 1972 in Chicago, IL where he was tapped by industry veteran Jac Holzman to work with him at Elektra Records in promotion.
In 1975, Elektra Records merged with Asylum Records and Stein was approached by David Geffen to make a move to the West Coast and create a rock and roll promotion division at the label's Los Angeles headquarters.
While at Elektra/Asylum, Burt became Vice President of Promotion and helped launch the careers of and worked with music heavyweights Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Jackson Browne, The Doors, Carly Simon, Queen, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, The Cars, Bread, Grover Washington Jr., Eddie Rabbitt, Motley Crue, Joni Mitchell, Warren Zevon, and others.
After 11 years on the side of label operations, Stein took that experience and launched artist management company, Gold Mountain Entertainment, in 1983 with partners Danny Goldberg and Ron Stone. Burt also spent a few years with venerable manager Freddy DeMann at DeMann Entertainment working with artists Madonna, Lionel Richie, Divinyls, and The Smithereens. Burt returned to Gold Mountain, launching a new branch of the company in Nashville in 1994.
Over the years Gold Mountain has managed a wide variety of artists that include Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Rickie Lee Jones, The Beastie Boys, Bonnie Raitt, Belinda Carlisle, Steve Earle, Lorrie Morgan, Gin Blossoms and many more.
Gold Mountain Entertainment Nashville currently manages the personal careers of Ronnie Milsap, The Band of Heathens, Daniel Rodriguez, Anna Moss, Handmade Moments, West Texas Exiles, Chicago Farmer, The High Hawks, and The Estates of Nanci Griffith and The Crickets.
